Following the film, a discussion with director Sophie Linnenbaum

In a fabulous world, strictly divided into main characters, supporting characters, and outtakes, Paula faces the most important test of her life: she must prove that she has what it takes to be a main character. Paula wants a glamorous life with her own storyline, exciting scenes, and full of music – not like her mother, who works as a supporting character in the background. She excels in hanging off cliffs, masters slow motion, and can scream in her sleep – but she just can't manage to create emotional music. While searching for a solution, she stumbles upon inconsistencies surrounding the death of her father, a heroic main character. Her investigations lead her to the despised, oppressed outtakes, people with film mistakes, on the fringes of society. But instead of encountering dangerous rebels, she finds broken characters with genuine emotions struggling to survive in an unjust world.

Paula begins to doubt – herself, her place in history, and those who tell it.

A film by German director Sophie Linnenbaum about a three-tiered society, set in the world of cinema, which functions as a tragicomedy sprinkled with science fiction elements, serving as a parable for the societal mechanisms of discrimination and exclusion.
