HOUSE BY THE LAKE bursary holder Karim Ainouz wins the Amnesty International Film Prize

Karim Ainouz has been awarded the Amnesty International Film Prize at this year’s Berlinale for his documentary ‘Zentralflughafen THF’ (Central Airport THF). “Touchingly and unagitatedly, daily life in the refugee emergency shelter in Berlin’s Tempelhof Airport is shown by the director. With a delicate glance and thus constantly on eye-level, he tells of the inhabitants of the hangar, allows them to tell their dramatic tales and presents their difficult life situation” – this is how the jury justified their decision. Equally pleasing to mention is […]

Main Theme for 2018: Decency!?

We will look at decency – or the lack of it – on a small scale and its echo on the grand scale. It’s about decency and the mutual goodwill as a prerequisite for a livable, functional community; in everyday life, in politics, the economy and social media. We would like to show films about people who work against brutality and everyday lies; […]

At the German LOLA Awards alone, his film `Der Staat gegen Fritz Bauer` (The Government versus Fritz Bauer) won 6 Lolas. Kraume’s new film   ‘The Silent Classroom’ is set in the […]
