A WOMAN

Screening at Cinema Bad Saarow (now “Cinema by Velotel”)

You would like to visit a film at the Cinema Bad Saarow? Then you can also use the DALLI service from Bad Saarow station to the Eibenhof. The stop is within easy walking distance of the cinema on the station forecourt.

A WOMAN tells the story of Marie-Louise Chatelaine, the mother of film director Jeanine Meerapfel.

The film follows the footsteps of Marie-Louise and her life’s journey from France to Germany to exile in Argentina. Filmmaker Jeanine Meerapfel, who is also president of the Academy of Arts, reconstructs the stages of her mother’s departure and uncertainty like an archaeologist. The result is a maelstrom of associative images that leave room for the untold. Memories and passages from letters merge into a very touching cinematic essay about several broken biographies. At the same time, the director reflects on the fragmentary nature of memory: “What is remembered, what is forgotten, and why?”

Followed by film discussion with filmmaker Jeanine Meerapfel.
