Screening in the cultural barn Gut Eibenhof
After 20 years of a fulfilling relationship, the well-known Chilean journalist and author Augusto Góngora and the actress and later Minister of Culture of Chile, Paulina Urrutia, marry. When Góngora was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2014, his wife began to record everyday moments and her husband’s progressive illness on video. The mixture of TV archive material, older private video recordings and recently shot scenes creates a tender portrait of a love relationship in which small gestures and glances are able to express a stronger intimacy than words. “Maite Alberdi’s documentary celebrates love and the fight against forgetting. A tender and highly political homage to a great pair of lovers.” (TAGESSPIEGEL).
“The Eternal Memory” was awarded the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival.
