The motto of this year’s FILM WITHOUT BORDERS festival brings together its stormy and contrasting attributes. “Now” is the absolute present, it is also a wake-up call, as well as the hour when time reveals its transience.
Generations and societies study this breath in strikingly different ways. “Formerly” and “now” always wrestle with the new in the world, which we have just recognised together as a phenomenon or which gradually emerges as an attitude to life and then wants to be named.
In today’s now, the mission of acute salvation resonates side by side with the spiritual value of the eternal moment and, finally, the warning not to put things off, to wake up and to push: “Arrive in the now!”
