3 x “Confidence” in cooperation with the FILMUNIVERSITÄT BABELSBERG KONRAD WOLF

In cooperation with the Filmuniversität Babelsberg Konrad Wolf, FILM WITHOUT FRONTIERS presents three short films on the theme CONFIDENCE /ZUVERSICHT (festival opening, August 31). The films were made as part of the format “The Island”, a project of the Filmuni Summer School for the preparation of studies for people with a history of flight, migrants and immigrants. “The Island” was conceived in 2016 by Barbara Albert and Jean Boué, who has been leading the workshop since then. Participants from nine nations created three films on the theme of confidence that could not be more different.

In the documentary “Mrs. Schneider and her Trees” (by Nataliya Kulykova, Mykyta Pavlov & Sheldon Ridley), an old woman talks about life and death, war and staying. The fictional short film “To Stay” (by Tatiana Burgos, Gabriela Kliemann Dias & Farid Wahid Nader) deals with post-traumatic stress disorder in refugees. The mockumentary “Apocalypse Later” (by Kyrylo Alferiev, Florian Rudolph & Yueqi Wu) explores whether people in the province of Brandenburg are ready to build post-apocalyptic Chinese rehabilitation centers.

Following the screening, filmmakers will provide insights into their experiences.

The following films will be shown:

1.Ms. Schneider and Her Trees (by Nataliya Kulykova, Mykyta Pavlov, Sheldon Ridley, length: 08:26 min).

2.To Stay (by Tatiana Burgos, Gabriela Kliemann Dias, Farid Wahid Nader, length: 07:00 min)

3.Apocalypse Later (by Kyrylo Alferiev, Florian Rudolph, Yueqi Wu, length: 11:00 min)
