KRISTOS, THE LAST CHILD

Screening at Cinema Bad Saarow (now “Cinema by Velotel”)

You would like to visit a film at the Cinema Bad Saarow? Then you can also use the DALLI service from Bad Saarow station to the Eibenhof. The stop is within easy walking distance of the cinema on the station forecourt.

Only 30 inhabitants live on the Greek island of Arki, including the only child Kristos. The 10-year-old is the son of a shepherd family and attends the last year of primary school. The classroom becomes a chamber play between the only pupil and his teacher Maria, who sees great potential in Kristos. She advises the parents to send Kristos to a boarding school. Kristos’ father, however, wants him to stay on the island and become a shepherd like his brothers in the family tradition. The film has won several awards, including the Doc.fest Prize of the SOS Children’s Villages worldwide: “The film puts itself at the boy’s eye level and delves into his world of thought. A moving insight with visual radiance. With very poetic, slow images, director Giulia Amati captures the burden of the boy who seems to carry all the happiness of the island on his shoulders…” (Excerpt from the jury’s statement)
