After the stroke of the elderly head of the family, it is clear to the wealthy Wegmeister-Gloor family that Josef will not be admitted to a nursing home. Instead, the young Polish woman Wanda is hired to look after him around the clock at home in the villa on Lake Zurich. The work is poorly paid, but Wanda needs the money for her own family in Poland. Since they all live under one roof, Wanda gets an intimate glimpse into the family life of the rich and respected Swiss family. So intimate, in fact, that Wanda unexpectedly becomes pregnant. The family reacts in horror and everyone’s nerves are on edge. Relentlessly and with deep black humour, director Bettina Oberli looks behind the scenes of an outwardly stable family life.
