This film about an unusual coming-of-age story of a boy in the Andes was awarded best Peruvian film at the Film Festival in Lima in 2017 and won the L´Oréal Teddy Newcomer Award at the Berlinale 2018. 14 years old Segundo lives with his parents in a village high up in the mountains of Peru. His father Noé is a well known artist and Segundos rolemodel. He devotedly makes altar screens for churches and houses and introduces his son to the trade. Together, they wander miles through the mountains to deliver these fragile pieces of art. But their strong relationship gets damaged when Segundo finds out that his father has a secret he can’t talk about. One day this secret is revealed. The film gives us a merciless view behind the facade of a village community that is violently ruled by patriarchal rules.
